Artist Residencies in the UK

Deadline: Rolling, send us some suggested dates with your application!

Here at The Lemonade Press we offer artist residencies in Bristol, UK for visiting artists. These are designed for artists requiring studio access for a specific project or to spend time exploring ideas within the lithographic medium.

There are a few ways that artists can approach their residency:

Resident artists can use the duration of their residency to develop new lithographic works in collaboration with a printer. The resulting print/s can then be signed off with an ‘approval to print’ and later edition printed by our printers here at the studio.

This allows the artist to utilise the expertise of the printer to handle all the technical concerns of lithography whilst the artist can focus on the realisation of their concept. Guidance and advice are given on all technical aspects of the proposal including drawing materials, papers and inks.

Artists who would like to learn or refresh their lithography skills can use their residency to learn new techniques to broaden their knowledge. The residency can be spent learning the process guided by the printer.
-OR-
If an artist requires some technical tuition but is otherwise independent, they can use the residency as time and space to make new work with no, or minimal, guidance from the printers. An induction into the studio is required before an artist is allowed to work independently.

Please email a project proposal to lemonadelitho@gmail.com including:

  • 5 images of your work, CV or bio
  • Desired residency duration
  • Required dates
  • Any requests to book technical assistance

We have welcomed a range of artists on residencies, from Bristol and beyond, both self-funded and funded through art organisations. View the Projects page for details.

*Artists are responsible for buying their own paper. Some materials are available to buy at the studio.

Paper can be ordered and sent to the studio ahead of your residency period if required. Please ask us if you would like to arrange this, we are more than happy to assist you.

We can also advise artists on accommodation and transport options if required.
